SF Bay Area Wedding Photographer

Hi, I'm Carrie.

and I'm the photographer behind CMG Imagery, a documentary wedding photographer based in the San Francisco Bay Area and photographing weddings throughout Northern California and beyond.

After thirteen years and more than 150 weddings, I know two things for certain: no two weddings are alike, and even the best-laid plans tend to evolve once the day is actually happening. I've gotten very good at thinking on my feet, reading what's happening in real time and adjusting the plan to fit the wedding—not the other way around.

I've navigated dark churches, shifting weather, complicated family dynamics and timelines that have taken on a life of their own. Very little surprises me anymore, and I'm pretty good at solving problems without turning them into your problems.

An editorial eye. A documentary instinct.

I give moments room to unfold naturally and offer thoughtful direction when it's needed. I'm direct when you need an answer, calm when things get complicated and equipped with the kind of dry humor thirteen years of weddings tends to give a person.

I take what I do incredibly seriously without taking myself too seriously. I care deeply about the photographs we create, but I care just as much about how your wedding day feels while we're creating them.

A little more about me.

Photography has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. Film cameras and photographing cats on family trips eventually led to a B.A. in Photography and years of editorial and commercial work before I founded CMG Imagery in 2012.

When I'm not photographing weddings, you'll usually find me exploring backcountry trails, road tripping with my Siamese cat, Mishka, searching for abandoned roadside motels or finding an excuse to be outside.

Tell me about your wedding.

Whether you're getting married beneath the redwoods, along the California coast, in wine country or in a backyard filled with your favorite people, I'd love to hear what you're planning.

Testimonial

Carrie is a wonderful photographer and person! We booked her to take our engagement and wedding photos and we were very happy with the results. Neither of us love getting our photo taken but she made the whole process easy and comfortable. Our wedding photos were great (even got some with us and our dogs) and she got lots of amazing shots of our guests enjoying themselves. We highly recommend booking Carrie for your special day! Professional, efficient, and a wizard behind the lens. Thanks Carrie."

Fact 1

The wildest hike I ever did was back- packing the Kalalau Trail on the Na Pali coast line. Twenty-two miles of terror round trip. Second wildest trip was hitch hiking from my hometown, Nevada City to Ashland, Oregon. Oh the stories we survived in our youth. 😉

Fact 2

Whether it is locally or internationally, I love exploring and discovering new places. Abandoned buildings and unique architecture always inspire me for creative shoots. I love to style and direct conceptual fashion shoots by combining my one-of-a- kind vintage finds with a newly discovered location that matches. Think Wes Anderson meets Richard Avedon.

Fact 3

I have a 6 year Siamese cat named Mishka (Meesh), who loves to eat my house plants to terrorize me. I love her dearly, none-the -less. She has a giant cat wheel that my amazing dad built her and is a great travel companion. She always rides shot gun on my trips to Reno to visit my family. She also knows how to sit and high five.

Fact 4

I'm probably listening Smosh Reads Reddit Stories podcast while I edit your photos. If not a podcast, then my go to is either old blues like Muddy Waters or something that makes me move like Dirty Bird House or drum and bass. Power edit!! 🤘🏻
